FocusMode

I’m the solo developer of Focusmo, a macOS focus app. I just shipped v7.12, which adds a local MCP server for Claude. The goal is simple: instead of generic productivity advice, Claude can connect to real focus data and help with weekly reviews, planning, and pattern spotting. Right now Claude can access: - today’s stats - weekly trends - task list - app usage with an hourly heatmap - personal records - live session state It can also create tasks and mark tasks complete. Everything runs locally on Mac through MCP, so the data stays on-device. I wrote more about it here:…

What it does

FocusMode helps you tackle your most important tasks one at a time. Just add your tasks, set a timer, and start working - one at a time. No overwhelm.

Stay on one task with accountability check-ins, app blocking, Pomodoro, and a floating timer for macOS. Free forever plan with a 7-day Pro trial.

Hours vanish without you noticing. You look up and the day is gone. One Slack ping costs you 23 minutes of deep focus. Every time. You make great plans, then nobody holds you to them. Sound familiar? I am absolutely loving the experience of using the app, it has really provided exactly what I've always needed as a uni student with severe ADHD. Thank you for creating this resource, with so many amazing features. I've been impressed by the efficient work and focus features provided by Focusmo. After using it, I've felt the great help it has provided in improving work efficiency and managing time . It's made such a difference in my daily productivity. Y'all need to try this thing called…from focusmo.app

Hi HN Dudley here, tech lead on Chunk. Chunk is a macOS menu bar app for time-blocking. It opens with Cmd + / and slides down over whatever you're doing - including fullscreen apps. There's also a live countdown in the tray for the current block. Click-and-drag to create blocks, day/week views, Google/Outlook/Apple Calendar sync, Apple Reminders integration, and a Todo mode where tasks can be dragged onto the timeline. Templates and Routines let you build an ideal day once and auto-apply it on chosen weekdays. There's a local MCP server, so you can ask Claude Desktop to…

I built a macOS menu bar app to track Claude usage in real time via API after hitting limits mid-flow too often. Signed and notarised by Apple. Open source. https://github.com/richhickson/claudecodeusage https://x.com/richhickson

I kept hitting Claude's 5-hour limit without realizing it, so I made this menu bar app to track it. Shows a color-coded ring (green/orange/red) and countdown to reset. Built it in Swift/SwiftUI, just for myself initially. Right now you have to manually grab your sessionKey from browser DevTools, which is annoying but works. Stores it in macOS Keychain so it's secure. Been actively working on it, already at v1.3.0 with much better UX now. It's open source (MIT) and works with all Claude platforms (web/CLI/desktop/mobile) since they share the quota. Currently…

I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…

I originally built this app to organize and reuse interesting React + Tailwind components I came across on Twitter, inspired by the shadcn/ui approach. Later, a friend started contributing their own components, and it got me thinking—this could grow into something bigger, like an NPM for design engineers to share and use components. Would love to hear your thoughts!
