Formzil
I decided to make this after realizing that everyone has to write a document someday and starting any document from scratch is the hardest part. Formzil gives you a proper starting template that you can edit as per your needs, so that you make the perfect document in the fastest and easiest way possible.
Formzil launched on June 3, 2025 with 11 votes, #2,422 of 7,999 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

Typeform was too expensive so I built my own forms2025 · ikiform.com · ▲190Hey HN, I'm a solopreneur and run a web design agency. I create open-source apps, but I also work as a freelancer and designer. I was accepting any new freelance project via forms on my agency website. I was using Typeform, but as time went by and more people submitted forms, it got more and more expensive. That time, I thought to use Google Form, but it was way too blocky and looked very unprofessional on my agency website. So I thought to build my own forms for my own usage, and it turns out it almost doubled form submissions and inquiry calls. I was happy, so I thought to build it for…

Hundred DocsDec 2025 · hundredocs.com · ▲17Hey HN, I’m Carlos, dev & designer behind Hundred Docs. Here’s the deal: I’ve spent way too many days fighting PDFs in production. Two things drove me crazy: 1. Most doc tools give total freedom → anyone can make a layout disaster + UX is terrible. 2. PDF libraries are a nightmare to integrate So I hacked something that actually works: - You describe the doc in plain English - AI turns it into an editable template - Non-tech folks can tweak it visually - Devs just POST JSON to an API → get a professional PDF back Would love to hear what you think about the product idea and your experience…

Hey HN! Pilots everywhere are required to keep a logbook of all their flying hours, aircraft, airports, and so on. Since I track everything digitally (some people still just use paper logbooks!), I put together some data visualizations and a few 3D globes to show my flying history. This globe is probably my favourite so far: https://jameshard.ing/pilot/globes/all If you’ve got ideas for other graphs or ways to show this kind of data, I’d love to hear them!

I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned. Over the next 9 months, I sent 15 emails to try to save it : no replies. Feature requests & issues were ignored. The community was left with a "broken" tool let's say. I couldn't just let it die So I built the new version from scratch with the same open-source spirit, but a better…
