Friendster launched on March 5, 2015 with 21 votes, #1,127 of 2,697 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 11 years on.
What it does
Friendster is a social networking service originally based in Mountain View, California , founded by Jonathan Abrams and launched in March 2002. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ] Before Friendster was redesigned, the service allowed users to contact other members, maintain those contacts, and share online content and media with those contacts. [ 5 ] The website was also used for dating and discovering new events, bands, and hobbies. Users could share videos, photos, messages, and comments with other members via profiles and networks.
