What it does
I wanted to check whether I'd clear Canada's Federal Skilled Worker threshold. Every calculator I found wanted my email first. The ones that didn't were lead-capture forms for immigration consultancies, and several were still scoring against the NOC 0/A/B occupation categories IRCC retired in 2022 — quietly giving people wrong answers. It's a 100-point grid with six inputs. It should not require an account. So I built it in a weekend. No sign-up, nothing stored, no ads, no funnel.

To qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) you must meet IRCC's general eligibility requirements and score at least 67 of 100 points across the six FSW selection factors. This free FSW calculator scores the full selection grid — calculate whether you reach the pass mark below. The FSWP is Canada's pathway for skilled workers applying from outside the country: no Canadian job offer, study, or work experience is required. It is one of three Express Entry streams, alongside the Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades. Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
