What it does

Fungible is a local-first personal finance app. No account, no cloud, your data stays on your Mac. Connect bank accounts via Plaid, import CSVs, set category rules, and track spending trends. v1.6.4 ships a full desktop GUI alongside the existing terminal interface: 10 screens, a filter panel, an AI chat drawer powered by your own API key, and native installers for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Open source, MIT licensed.

It runs using your own plaid credentials (optional) and has its own integrated chatbot (also optional and BYO key). You connect banks via Plaid or import CSVs. On top of normal categories there's a flexibility layer (fixed / flexible / discretionary) so you can see at a glance what's actually controllable spending.   I've been using this daily for 4 months and figured others might find it useful. This is my first open source project so would love any feedback. Ray connects to your bank via Plaid, stores everything in an encrypted local SQLite database, and lets you ask questions about your finances in natural language. No cloud, no account, your data is stored on your machine. Before anything reaches the LLM, all PII is stripped — your name, companies, transaction details are redacted and replaced with tokens, then rehydrated locally in the response. The AI never sees who you are.
