Github Roaster
Get your github profile brutally roasted .
What it does
Github Roaster is a side project which I have been building for a while. It is a fun way to roast your github profile. It also includes a leaderboard so you can see how other people's github profile is performing. It uses AI to roast and judge the profile so you can also check out how your profile performs in the eyes of a LLM.

Hey HN - I'm Mason, and I'm excited to share a fun side project I've been working on recently: Repo Roast. For me, Github often feels like a serious (and sometimes soulless) place. I built this website to showcase the human, silly side of developers. Repo Roast is built on top of LLM-powered GitHub analytics tooling we’re developing internally at Merit Systems [0]. One of the historically cited weak points for LLMs has been their sense of humor. I found that with the right prompt, at scale, they mostly can _identify_ humor pretty well. We experimented with a couple of different models to…

Since everyone seems to be making a github application, I thought I'd share mine. It's an aggregated view of all of a given person's github projects, as well as easyish lookups for linkedin/stackoverflow/hackernews. It attempts to determine both productivity (how much code did this person write?) as well as impact (did anyone care?) I'd love any feedback, but go easy on the number of simultaneous searches as I'm trying to play nice by github's api limits. check it -- http://www.gitalytics.com

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

- H6Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481
Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!
