What it does

A fun little tool for making your terminal login a little more social. "Spraypaint" your one-liners and ascii art onto the wall, and then use the `graffiti` CLI (or a simple curl command) to display a random "spray" in your shell login. It's `fortune`, but social.

a public wall for anonymous, terminal-friendly graffiti — spray a line, curl a random one back. Enter your graffiti above. 10 character minimum, 1000 character maximum. No language filter. Posts are anonymous. Don’t spray hate or porn — it gets wiped. There’s no automated language filtering. Contributions are anonymous. The developer takes no responsibility for what others write. Hate speech and pornographic content will be removed by the admin as quickly as possible. brew tap ttscoff/thelab brew install graffiti Then graffiti for a random spray, graffiti get 42 for a specific id, or graffiti spraypaint 'your message' to post. Read with color: graffiti --color=always…from graffiti.moe

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • Hey HN, We recently built Clipto. It’s a tool that lets you search over terabytes of video, audio, and images on your computer, without relying on the cloud. Motivation: we probably all had this similar experience, we know a moment exists in a video or audio, but finding it takes hours scrubbing the timeline. You can send all the media to process in the cloud, but it’s slow, expensive and raises privacy concerns. So we decided to build our own on-device media search engine. How it works (high level): 1. We ingest video, audio, image; normalize formats via ffmpeg; run content analysis to…

  • Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…
