Just thought I'd let HN know about this new effort to reduce carbon emissions. GreenCoin is a crypto-currency like Bitcoin used to incentivize individuals to reduce carbon emissions by lowering their costs of using renewable energy. You may think of it as free "Rewards Points" that are eventually redeemable for Bitcoin or cash. Each day over 1.4 million are given away to all currently registered solar producers.
