In plain words

Code in the Dark is a developer-focused event format that replaces traditional hackathons with a different approach to coding competitions. Rather than requiring developers to pitch business ideas and presentations, it focuses on the coding itself while allowing juries to directly engage with developers. The format addresses common frustrations with standard hackathons by eliminating lengthy pitches and business-focused elements, letting developers concentrate on building and creating code.

I’ve been to about a dozen of them, as a developer, as a mentor, as a jury member, and as press. Here’s what I’ve noticed. Developers just want to code, but they have to pitch a business at the end. Juries just want to meet developers, but they get stuck with some B-School student talking about viral engagement and the mobile revolution. And Sponsors – well, Sponsors, after a weekend of hocking your company, you get the stiff reward of knowing that the 3rd place winner…from rudebaguette.com

Hello everyone, I've been working on a project called CodenQuest, a coding practice app inspired by platforms like LeetCode, but with a major twist: it's heavily gamified, similar to Duolingo. The main goal is to make coding practice more engaging, especially on mobile. Key Features: - Diverse coding questions with integrated hints and timers. - Code editor with code completion and fill in the blanks questions - Performance statistics (runtime, memory, CPU usage, and more). - Gamified elements: leagues, ranking systems, daily challenges, friends, and streak mechanisms. - Available on iOS and…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
