In plain words

Haven is a private website platform that lets users create and share content with a selected group of people rather than the general public. Launched in 2021, it's designed for anyone who wants to maintain a personal web presence with controlled access. The service focuses on privacy by limiting visibility to only invited individuals, making it suitable for families, close friends, or small communities who want a shared online space without broader internet exposure.

From the sources

Haven puts you in complete control of what you write. You choose who gets to see it instead of trusting a big company to control who gets access on your behalf. Share pictures of your kids with family and friends. Share private thoughts with those you trust most. You're in control with no ads, and no tracking. Haven is open source , and free for you to run on your own server. We've made it as easy as possible to get running on Amazon AWS and you can run it on a Raspberry Pi in your living room or anywhere else. If running it yourself is too daunting, we can host it for you on your own dedicated virtual server for $5 per month. I started this project as a website where I could share pictures…from havenweb.org

My team and I built Haven. It is a stripped down browser that only connects to verified financial institutions and blocks everything else. No extensions, no injected scripts, no overlays, no random third party code. It is not a general browser, it is just a controlled environment for banking and investing. Why? I have spent years building browser extensions and know exactly how much power they have. The extension model is useful, but the security model is too loose and a single malicious install can see everything, rewrite everything, and mislead a user without leaving a trace. My dad…
