Helishopter - real social shopping

I've posted a few times regarding www.helishopter.com[1] , but I wasn't prepared to really post until we fixed up a few of the styling issues. What it does

In the maker’s words, at launch

I've posted a few times regarding www.helishopter.com[1] , but I wasn't prepared to really post until we fixed up a few of the styling issues. Now, there are still a lot of bugs and UI issues, but you get the idea.<p>Our mission is:<p>"To be the premier destination for shopping inspiration and product research, by providing intelligent recommendations and tapping into the advice of our users network of social connections"<p>Of course, it will work a lot better once people start building follower/following lists, as one of the central features is to find inspiration by looking into other peoples "shopping bags".<p>Another issue is that the majority of our content is Swedish (we're based in Stockholm), but we're working on it now.<p>As always, we're looking for as much feedback as possible, so please let me know what's good, what's bad and how we can improve.<p>Note: 1. Mobile-version is non-existent (yet), please ignore.

    SocialFolders, "Dropbox for social"2012 · ▲187

Hey fellow HN-ers, I'd like to ask HN about my latest startup: SocialFolders. We take a Dropbox-like approach to managing your content on your social networks by mirroring all the content you have on these networks in folders on your computer. Moving this content around, between folders or between services, is mirrored in the all-mighty "cloud" (ugh, I hate this word). We'd love to know what you think. We think our approach solves the problem of managing content at scale. We put together a quick 2'30 screencast to show HN how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4s2TFsVezZQ If you want…

    Social Shopping2011 · ▲5

Hey there HNers, First of all, apologies for the shameless "self-promotion" - just felt like sharing :-) I've just launched a very simple project on the e-commerce front and although I'm currently involved in a few "bigger and bolder" projects, decided to give this a go. It's a DIY e-commerce tool that allows people to setup stores on Facebook, for free. We started this project as a weekend hackathon to help a friend bring her products online and decided to turn it into a product, so there's still definitely a lot to be done. Apart from showing off, this thread is here to start a discussion…

    Shoplove - A women's high street store aggregator2011 · ▲22

Background: I noticed that my better half spent a lot of time searching for the same thing (at the time it was maternity dresses) across a whole load of women's fashion stores online. So I built her a site that lets her search some of the top stores from one site. I have an idea for a few social elements that I want to add to try and make more of a community. Any feedback, tips etc welcome. http://shoplove.co.uk

an app to help you shop for food2011 · ▲11

Wanted to get everyone's feedback on the web app my startup has been working on for the past few months. (didn't want to tweak it anymore before getting feedback from viewers who weren't my friends/family). http://www.foodia.com Would definitely love feedback on the UX (which needs work) and whether this is something you'd use before shopping/deciding what to buy. I'd also love to hear what food problems (if any) you all feel need solving. Thanks.

    Tumblr for shops2011 · ▲8

We just released www.hallways.me Hallways (Marketplace) wants to do for shops what Tumblr did for blogs - make it (kickass) easy to open up a shop and start selling on a social marketplace. We're slowly getting the shops onboard but we want to know where and how we can improve! Please send feedback! Thanks you guys rock

Review my app, WAYWN (What are you wearing now?)2011 · ▲20

It's up and running at : http://www.waywn.com/ The gist of the app is building a community around fashion that fits an individual's style. Understandably, there are similar applications that have launched recently, but we feel that ours is distinct enough to still have a valuable place in the fashion ecosystem. The biggest difference from ours and sites such as Pose, Fashism, Tryiton, Lookbook, etc. is that we want to capture a lot of the forum based discussions and create a community out of them. The existing sites tend to skew heavily female (to the point where the design often alienates…

  • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…
