The cycle awareness app built for men. No guessing.
HerBattery launched on June 11, 2026 with 3 votes, #6,658 of 22,647 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was not reachable when checked in September 2026.
What it does
Most period apps are built for women. HerBattery is built for the man who wants to understand her. A battery on your homescreen shows exactly where she is in her cycle — her energy, her mood, her desire. 7 phases, color-coded, always one glance away. 100% offline. No account. No cloud. Your data never leaves the phone. 32 languages. Less than a coffee a year (€9.99), with a 7-day free trial — no credit card needed. She's not random. You just didn't have the data.

Hey HN, after the app I actually used to track my period wanted me to log in and save my data in the cloud, I decided to write my own. Most apps in this area are based on a subscription model and display far too much information anyway. For me, a simple calendar is enough where I can add a few notes if necessary. So that is the result of my work - a simple design and the data is only saved on the smartphone.

Not long after, she started getting eerily specific suggestions on other platforms. Things she hadn’t searched for. Things that felt too close. Somewhere, her cycle had been turned into a data point. That bothered me more than I can explain. These apps promise helpful insights. But in return, they take so much.…

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
