What it does

Other tools give you dashboards. homebutler gives you a conversation. 3 AM. Disk hits 91%. No laptop, no SSH. Ask your AI — it restarts the container, disk drops to 66%. Back to sleep. A single Go binary with built-in MCP server. Connect to Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI agent. AI calls homebutler tools but never gets raw shell access. AI → MCP → homebutler → SSH. Secure by design. Today: CLI + MCP + Web dashboard. Tomorrow: infrastructure that manages itself.

Homebutler turns server maintenance into narrow, readable operations: report what changed, map exposed ports, catch crashes, and verify backups. One Go binary. CLI, web, JSON, or MCP — no SSH key required. Install with brew install Higangssh/homebutler/homebutler , then run homebutler report to see what changed on your server since last time. This page has an interactive demo that needs JavaScript, but everything above is the whole product: a single Go binary you run on your ownfrom homebutler.dev

I'm relatively new to Go, but recently got interested in how MCP servers work. I started thinking about what the architecture of such a project might look like, and decided to build a minimalist version as an experiment. I based it on my past experience writing regular REST API servers and figured it might be useful or interesting to others as well.

  • go-nbd – A Pure Go NBD Server and Client2023 · github.com · ▲113

Hey HN! I just released go-nbd, a lightweight Go library for effortlessly creating NBD servers and clients. Its a neat tool for creating custom Linux block devices with arbitrary backends, such as a file, byte slice or what I'm planning to use it for, a tape drive. While there are a few partially abandoned projects like this out there already, this library tries to be as maintainable as possible by only implementing the most recent handshake revision and baseline functionality for both the client and the server, while still having enough support to be useful. I'd love to get your feedback :)

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
