I build a cheap Skype Clone
I build a skype clone, where you can make international calls via browser. Skype was my go to app for that, but since they shut it down, decided to build my own. Its perfect for calling international customer support, or any other gov numbers. Its pay-as-you-go - so no subscription charges, very transparent pricing. You can just top up $5 and see pricing in real time during the call.

In plain words
Bubbly Phone is a browser-based calling service that lets users make international calls without subscriptions. It uses a pay-as-you-go model where users can top up as little as $5 and see call costs in real time. The service is designed for people needing to reach international customer support lines, government numbers, or other overseas contacts. Pricing is transparent and adjusts based on the destination, with no hidden fees or mandatory plans.

ZippCall2025 · zippcall.com · ▲136You may have heard Microsoft is closing down Skype in a month: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43202052#43202881 As someone originally from the UK who spends a significant amount of time in Morocco, I constantly faced the challenge of making affordable and straightforward calls back home, especially to essential services like my bank or credit card company - Skype always made it easier for me with their outgoing to calls to a regular phone number. I used Skype 2/3 times a week. When I heard they were closing down, and saw a post by @levelsio on X, I put my head to…
CallSky.io2025 · callsky.io · ▲16I built CallSky as a simple alternative for international calling after Microsoft shut down Skype earlier this month. The app lets you make calls to landlines and cell phones worldwide starting at $0.01/minute with a pay-as-you-go model. I noticed that while Teams replaced Skype's video/chat conferencing, it doesn't offer the same affordable PSTN calling that many people relied on. WhatsApp and other messaging apps don't solve this - whether you're an expat calling the IRS for taxes, reaching elderly family members who don't use smartphones, or contacting people in areas with…
I built an international calling platform for the past 6 monthsJan 2026 · voklit.com · ▲38I built Voklit because I was tired of paying $2+/min to call banks and airlines overseas. Needed a US number that works anywhere with actual affordable rates. It's a web-based VoIP service (mobile apps coming soon). You get a real US phone number, pay-as-you-go minutes on top of a small subscription that covers the infrastructure. Bootstrapped, solo founder. Built with [Go/Next.js/ and Websockets] if anyone's curious about the stack. Adding more countries soon. Happy to answer questions or hear feedback.

I went down the rabbit hole on a side project and ended up building this: Strange Attractors(https://blog.shashanktomar.com/posts/strange-attractors). It’s built with three.js. Working on it reminded me of the little "maths for fun" exercises I used to do while learning programming in early days. Just trying things out, getting fascinated and geeky, and being surprised by the results. I spent way too much time on this, but it was extreme fun. My favorite part: someone pointed me to the Simone Attractor on Threads. It is a 2D attractor and I asked GPT to extrapolate it to…

Autism Simulator▲779Hey all, I built this. It’s not trying to capture every autistic experience (that’d be impossible). It’s based on my own lived experience as well as that of friends on the spectrum. I'm trying to give people a feel for what masking, decision fatigue, and burnout can look like day-to-day. That’s hard to explain in words, but easier to show through choices and stats. I'm not trying to "define autism". I’ve gotten good feedback here about resilience, meds, and difficulty tuning. I’ll keep tweaking it. If even a few people walk away thinking, "ah, maybe that’s why my coworker struggles in those…
