I built a simple client side PNG steganography tool

Hey all, Last year I attempted to build an assistive voice programming tool as part of my undergraduate dissertation in CS. Speech2Code offers support for the basic features of the JavaScript language, accepts commands in both English and Portuguese, integrates well with the VSCode editor, and also works on the browser. Hope you like, thanks!

I built a simple client side PNG steganography tool launched on November 19, 2021 with 15 votes, #1,159 of 2,925 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 4 years on.

In plain words

Speech2Code is a voice programming tool that allows developers to write JavaScript code using spoken commands. It supports basic JavaScript features and accepts voice input in both English and Portuguese. The tool integrates with VSCode and runs in web browsers, making it accessible across different development environments. Speech2Code was created as an undergraduate computer science dissertation project focused on assistive programming.

A few years ago, right after high school, I decided to try to make a simultaneous translation app for Android as a side project, it took longer than expected (about 2 years) and I had to make a lot of compromises (I had to use Google's API and therefore make users use a developer key because at the time there were no free solutions for speech recognition and translation that had good quality). At the end of university, I decided to pick it up again and finally, using OpenAi's Whisper for speech recognition and Meta's NLLB for translation (with both running locally on the phone), I managed to…
