I'm 66 and created a negative-pressure dental clinic to combat Covid19

Hello everyone, My son loves Hacker News, so I am using his account. I love innovation and technology. With the restrictions due to Coronavirus from practicing in my clinic. I created a system that replaces the air in my office in 20 seconds. Those vacuums are also filled with UV-rods inside to kill any viruses. The air is release below the office in a 2-3 foot basement, which is also filled with UV rods. https://youtu.be/UfYt1w156QA https://youtu.be/UpO8WXOlgcQ (side-by-side) Given how much my son enjoys Hacker News I thought you would all enjoy it. The Cyber Plumber's Handbook – SSH Tunnel Like a Boss2019 · ▲277

Looking to get some feedback from the Hacker News community. I wrote the book with a focus on penetration testers and red teamers, but there are great examples for network admins, developers, and blue team defenders as well. You can pick up a copy for free here through May 19, 2019: https://gumroad.com/l/the_cyber_plumbers_handbook/hackernews... Please note, because it's hosted on Gumroad, it does require an email. If you don't want to give out your actual email, check out an anonymous email service. I give it away to students for free, so if you know of one that…

Fake Hacker News – See what HN has to say before you post2023 · fakehn.com · ▲107

Hi HN! I’ve been lurking for a while, but out of fear of being steamrolled by HN readers or maybe just natural introversion, I’ve always been too scared to post or comment. Which is why 1. this is my first real Hacker News submission 2. my friend Michael and I built "Fake" Hacker News, a place to post and see what AI-generated HN comments might say. Here’s a video of me using fakeHN to test this very submission: https://www.loom.com/share/4b9f4f9d7c77489a86baeb92ec55a1ed?... And an example of one of our generated posts:…

    I built an under-the-door fan duct to lower bedroom CO22025 · lepekhin.com · ▲64

Hi HN, This is my attempt to fix groggy mornings by lowering my bedroom CO2 from 1700 ppm to ~900 ppm. I designed a simple, 3D-printed fan duct that directs air under the door to improve air circulation. A note on the design process: I used CadQuery, a Python library for creating parametric 3D models. I didn't know tools like this existed and highly recommend it if you can program; it turned out to be more convenient than manually iterating on prototypes in a GUI. The project is open source and the post explains the full build. Happy to answer any questions.

  • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…
