I made a screenshot beautifier

I’ve always seen talented designers and developers post their work, only for it to get lost in the noise. I realized a major reason is that they often just post a simple, unstyled screenshot. As a result, nobody pays attention. My solution is a tool where you can drop in a screenshot, pick from a collection of hand-picked gradients, style it, and export it—all in a few seconds. I’ve carefully designed every element of the app to be efficient, simple, and intuitive. On making it "Free, Forever": I don't plan on ever charging a subscription for Moocup. I dislike the subscription model as much…

In plain words

Moocup is a free screenshot styling tool that helps designers and developers make their work stand out. Users upload a screenshot, select from curated gradients, apply styling, and export the result in seconds. The app prioritizes simplicity and efficiency in its interface design. It operates on a free model supported by optional donations, with no planned subscription fees.

In the maker’s words, at launch

I’ve always seen talented designers and developers post their work, only for it to get lost in the noise. I realized a major reason is that they often just post a simple, unstyled screenshot. As a result, nobody pays attention. My solution is a tool where you can drop in a screenshot, pick from a collection of hand-picked gradients, style it, and export it—all in a few seconds. I’ve carefully designed every element of the app to be efficient, simple, and intuitive. On making it "Free, Forever": I don't plan on ever charging a subscription for Moocup. I dislike the subscription model as much as you do. Instead, my plan is to include a donation option for those who wish to support the project. This allows me to keep my promise of making the app free and useful for everyone, without being burdened by hosting and maintenance costs. My goal is simple: to provide a high-quality tool that is genuinely useful and doesn't waste your time. If you find it helpful, the best thing you can do is share it with others. I've included all my contact links for feedback and suggestions. Happy designing :)

Hey HN! Pilots everywhere are required to keep a logbook of all their flying hours, aircraft, airports, and so on. Since I track everything digitally (some people still just use paper logbooks!), I put together some data visualizations and a few 3D globes to show my flying history. This globe is probably my favourite so far: https://jameshard.ing/pilot/globes/all If you’ve got ideas for other graphs or ways to show this kind of data, I’d love to hear them!

I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned. Over the next 9 months, I sent 15 emails to try to save it : no replies. Feature requests & issues were ignored. The community was left with a "broken" tool let's say. I couldn't just let it die So I built the new version from scratch with the same open-source spirit, but a better…
