I made a simple VSCode extension to sort and compare jsons
There is no guarantee that two generated JSON files will have the same order of keys and values, which can make comparing two JSON files difficult, even if they are identical in content but different in order. To solve this issue, I created a simple VSCode extension that sorts and then compares two JSON files.
I made a simple VSCode extension to sort and compare jsons launched on November 4, 2024 with 7 votes and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.
What it does

If you have two JSON files that should be identical but are hard to compare due to the unordered nature of JSON, this VSCode extension can help by sorting then comparing them making it easier to focus on real content differences. This extension sorts JSON files before comparison to make it easier to spot the differences in JSON files. Here’s a quick demo: two sample JSON files are compared using the extension, demonstrating that only one key-value pair differs.
