I made a tool to find the best time to buy your new phone
A few months ago my Pixel 4A phone was dying so I started thinking about upgrading to a newer model. I didn't want to get hit with buyer's remorse if a price drop happened after buying, due to a new model being announced or released. After digging around, it turns out that understanding the lifecycle of even the most popular phones isn’t that easy. That's why I've made this simple site: keeps tabs on phones lifecycles and gives you a heads-up on upcoming sales seasons to nail your purchase timing. At the moment it only covers the big Android players—Samsung and Google, but I'm keen to expand…
I made a tool to find the best time to buy your new phone launched on April 21, 2024 with 37 votes, #724 of 4,347 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 2 years on.
In plain words
This tool tracks phone lifecycles for Samsung and Google devices to help buyers time their purchases and avoid price drops. It monitors when new models are announced or released and alerts users to upcoming sales seasons. The tool is designed for Android phone owners who want to avoid buyer's remorse by purchasing at optimal times rather than immediately before price reductions.

Hey HN! I wanted to show you BTTB, a site I've been building off-and-on for the past year or so. I did all the end-to-end coding and design and enlisted the help of a few professional researchers and writers to gather and aggregate data. My background is in frontend engineering, design, and product development. BTTB is a web app that illustrates the best time to buy common products (e.g. washing machines, snowblowers, TVs, fitness equipment, etc.) and notifies you the next time it's a good time to buy. I also built some cool indicators like sale rarity. Why I built it: We bought a new house…

I made a search-engine that lets you find well-rated apps in Android Market. Not cool enough? It easily shows great apps not listed on the market main page. This is the only app that let you filter apps and games in entire market by rating, category, cost, rating count, downloads count and sort them in the way you like. Instead of browsing the endless lists of random apps (like all those 3,5-rated apps listed in "the best" category), specify your own, advanced search conditions. You can also try a set of interesting preset searches. Bring cool games into daylight and find some fresh apps,…
