I made a website even my tech un-savvy parents can use to find a laptop
Whenever my parents need a new laptop, they ask me for a recommendation because they’re not very tech savvy. Last time around, I had a realization that I’m fairly algorithmic with my recommendations: I gather information about their preferences and functional needs and then match those to options I can find online. This website (https://easylaptopfinder.com) attempts to provide a simple UI to intake information about what someone needs and apply the results to a matching algorithm against a list of products. I think it’s cool because sites like Amazon have tons of options but very…

In plain words
Easy Laptop Finder is a website that helps people find suitable laptops by asking about their needs and preferences, then matching them to available options. It's designed for non-technical users who find shopping on large sites like Amazon overwhelming. Rather than requiring knowledge of technical specifications like GPU types or RAM requirements, the site uses a simple interface to gather information and apply a matching algorithm to recommend appropriate models.

- ITIt took me 5() months to build a Plausible alternative2024 · ▲44
After months of using Google Analytics I realized only about 50% of people accepted my cookie-popup. I had months of incorrect data for my website. I started looking for alternatives and eventually found Plausible, which is great (and open-source). Problem is, I didn't feel like paying 9$ a month to see the amount of visitors on a website i didn't even earn anything on, it was just a hobby project. Eventually I started making my own web analytics. Which actually isn't that hard. It took me about a month of working on my spare time every now and then. Being GDPR compliant basically means to…
