I put my Claude Code rate-limit burndown in the status line

A custom two-row status line for Claude Code: model, context %, tokens, diff size, and how much 5-hour and weekly rate-limit budget is left before the next reset — what each row tells you, how to build it from scratch, and the skill to install it in one step.

I put my Claude Code rate-limit burndown in the status line launched on June 8, 2026 with 8 votes, #1,599 of 22,647 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches.

What it does

Claude Code lets you replace the status line with any command you like. Mine packs the four things I actually glance at into two rows — so I always know how much runway I have before something runs out. Here's what each row tells me, how to build it from scratch, and a one-step skill to install it. The whole thing is packaged as a Claude Code skill — SKILL.md plus the script — in my public skills repo. Grab it directly: Clone the repo and symlink it into ~/.claude/skills/ , then run the skill: # Clone the skills repo and symlink this skill into Claude Code git clone https://github.com/fotoflo/claude-skills.git ln -s "$PWD/claude-skills/statusline-setup" ~/.claude/skills/statusline-setup #…from aimhuge.com

I kept slamming into Claude Code limits mid-session and couldn’t find a quick way to see how close I was getting, so I hacked together a tiny local tracker. Streams your prompt + completion usage in real time Predicts whether you’ll hit the cap before the session ends Runs 100 % locally (no auth, no server) Presets for Pro, Max × 5, Max × 20 — tweak a JSON if your plan’s different GitHub: https://github.com/Maciek-roboblog/Claude-Code-Usage-Monitor It’s already spared me a few “why did my run just stop?” moments, but it’s still rough around the edges. I got tired of Claude Code forgetting all my context every time I open a new session: set-up decisions, how I like my margins, decision history. etc. We built a shared memory layer you can drop in as a Claude Code Skill. It’s basically a tiny memory DB with recall that remembers your sessions. Not magic. Not AGI. Just state. Install in Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add https://github.com/mutable-state-inc/ensue-skill /plugin install ensue-memory # restart Claude Code What it does: (1) persists context between sessions (2) semantic & temportal search (not just…

  • A community library for Claude Code status linesAug 2026 · statuslin.es · ▲13

A little while ago I was searching for a nice status line to use in Claude Code and was surprised that no community library type website existed for people to show off what they have made. So I decided to have a little fun and make one. All status lines are manually reviewed and rendered in a live container to capture the output. Enjoy! Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!
