IdBloc – Use a different email address for every website
Hi HN! I've been thinking about how we use password generators to create a unique password for every login to increase security, but most of us use the same email address as the login identifier on every website and mailing list out there. It's a big privacy and security hole that isn't easily plugged (e.g. anyone who knows your email address has a starting point to start trying to get into your account, it's easy to track emails across websites etc.) To solve this I've created https://idbloc.co It’s a web app that lets you generate random, untraceable email addresses that forward…
What it does
In the maker’s words, at launch
Hi HN! I've been thinking about how we use password generators to create a unique password for every login to increase security, but most of us use the same email address as the login identifier on every website and mailing list out there. It's a big privacy and security hole that isn't easily plugged (e.g. anyone who knows your email address has a starting point to start trying to get into your account, it's easy to track emails across websites etc.) To solve this I've created https://idbloc.co It’s a web app that lets you generate random, untraceable email addresses that forward to your actual email address. You can use it for signing up to different services, mailing lists or just anywhere an email address is required and you don’t want to give your real email out. It's free to use right now, and I would appreciate any feedback!

Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…
