If you lose your memory, how to regain access to your computer?

Due to bike-induced concussions, I've been worried for a while about losing my memory and not being able to log back in. I combined shamir secret sharing (hashicorp vault's implementation) with age-encryption, and packaged it using WASM for a neat in-browser offline UX. The idea is that if something happens to me, my friends and family would help me get back access to the data that matters most to me. 5 out of 7 friends need to agree for the vault to unlock. Try out the demo in the website, it runs entirely in your browser!

In plain words

This tool helps users regain access to their computer and personal data if they lose their memory or suffer memory loss. It uses Shamir secret sharing combined with age-encryption to create a recovery system where a user's trusted friends and family can collectively unlock access—requiring five out of seven designated people to agree. The system runs entirely in the browser offline, using WebAssembly for a smooth user experience. It's designed for anyone concerned about unexpected memory loss affecting their ability to log back into their accounts and important data.

Keepr – A Secure and Offline Open Source CLI Password ManagerNov 2025 · ▲17

Hi HN, I made Keepr, a simple offline CLI password manager for developers who prefer keeping secrets local and working entirely in the terminal. Everything is stored in an encrypted SQLCipher database, protected by a master password. A time-limited session keeps the vault unlocked while you work, so you don’t need to re-enter the password constantly. Keepr never touches the network. It includes commands to add, view, search, update, and delete entries, plus a secure password generator and clipboard support. Technical details: - AES-256 via SQLCipher - PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 (1.2M iterations) for…
