Inflation-adjusted stock charts – Total Real Returns
Here's a little side project I’ve been working on: https://totalrealreturns.com/ The Total Real Returns chart demonstrates the preservation or growth of real wealth more clearly than conventional (nominal-dollar, price-only) stock charts, because: (1) we include the effects of inflation-diminished purchasing power, and (2) we include the effects of reinvesting dividends from the initial investment. I found it harder to explain the y-axis in words than it was to do the math, so please let me know if you think the "baguettes" explanation on the homepage helps. I was up until 4am…
In plain words
Total Real Returns provides inflation-adjusted stock charts that show actual wealth growth rather than nominal price movements. The tool accounts for both inflation's impact on purchasing power and reinvested dividends, giving investors a clearer picture of real returns over time. Designed for anyone analyzing long-term stock performance, it uses current inflation data to adjust historical prices, making comparisons across different time periods more meaningful and accurate.

Hello, HN - I wanted to share this puzzle game I made during my vacation. I'm rather fond of the pipes puzzle where your goal is to restore a scrambled network of connections by rotating tiles. It's usually played on a grid of squares and this all started when I decided to make a programmatic solver for that kind of puzzle. Then I realized that with some minor changes the solver could generate new puzzle instances. I thought about what kind of puzzle to make and someone suggested a hexagonal grid. Adapting the generator wasn't too hard but then I had to create a way to play this variant. So…
