What it does
Inkling is Thinking Machines’ first open-weights model, a 975B MoE with 41B active parameters, 1M context, native reasoning across text, images, and audio, and controllable thinking effort. Fine-tune it on Tinker or download the Apache 2.0 weights.
Our first open-weights model: multimodal, Mixture-of-Experts, with controllable reasoning effort. Available to fine-tune on Tinker.
Our mission is to build AI that extends human will and judgment. We have developed a platform that lets anyone customize models, previewed an AI system built for interactive collaboration, and published novel research . Today we are advancing our mission by releasing a model we trained from scratch with the full weights available, so that people can make it their own. Our model, called Inkling, is a Mixture-of-Experts transformer with 975B total parameters, 41B active. It supports a context window of up to 1M tokens. It was pretrained on 45 trillion tokens of text, images, audio and video. It is the first in a family of models of different sizes: alongside it we are sharing a preview of…from thinkingmachines.ai

I’ve been building Echo (https://echo.tracerml.ai/), an experiment in making one AI system out of a pool of open-weight models rather than choosing a single model and using it for every task. It started with a simple experiment. I took a group of models, including GLM-5.2, Kimi K2.7 and others, and ran them on the same evaluations. Then I measured what would happen if, for each problem, you somehow knew in advance which models would be useful and how their outputs should be combined. That hypothetical system performed substantially better than any individual model in the pool.…

Are You in the Weights?Jun 2026 · intheweights.com · ▲471With more traffic moving off-web and into LLMs, I got curious about what traces we leave "in the weights". My design partner and I built a site in the past few weeks that checks recognition across frontier and small models. It queries many of them in parallel, clusters the responses, and tells you how strongly they recognize you. Happy to answer any questions here!
Open Prompts – dataset of 10M Stable Diffusion generations2022 · github.com · ▲279Open Prompts is the dataset used to build krea.ai. The data comes from the Stability AI Discord and includes around 10M images from 2M prompts. You can use it for creating semantic search engines of prompts, training LLMs, fine-tuning image-to-text models like BLIP, or extracting insights from the data—like the most common combinations of modifiers.

I might be the only SRE on Earth with his own bowling center. It's a more in-depth gig than you'd think. My family and I bought an abandoned 8-lane bowling center in the rural mid-west. In our small town there weren't many recreation options for families. You've heard of a food desert? This is an R&R desert. It had been abandoned for a good reason. The roof leaks, the electrical system was constantly surging, and my 70-year-old bowling equipment (still) doesn't work perfectly. The system that keeps your score is particularly interesting to me. It's the thing you watch during your game, but…

Over the past few months, our team has been building more and more slidedecks using web frontend technologies with coding harnesses like Claude Code, but a common complaint is to make even small edits we need to edit the code either manually or via the harness. To avoid this loop, I ended up creating Bento, a single HTML file with everything you need in a slide tool including animations and shared editing. There's no install or cloud login, everything works offline. The default deck is around 560 KB and it doesn't need to fetch anything once you got it. Open it in a browser and then you can…

A few days ago I found myself trying out GLM 5.2 and was really positively impressed. The capabilities and security I was getting from this LLM are similar to those I've gotten from models like Claude or GPT, and this really surprised me. But then I thought, "I wonder how it would work on a normal computer like mine," and above all, "I wonder if it would work without going into OOM on a computer like mine." So I started working with the help of agents to test this possibility. I started converting the model to int4, understanding MTP usage, and if possible implementing DSA for long context.…

OpenSEO▲928Hello! For the last 2 months, I've been building OpenSEO. It's a user friendly UI wrapping the DataForSEO API which has high quality SEO data for keywords, backlinks, AI SEO and competitor research. Instead of paying $100+ per month, you buy DataForSEO credits and pay only for usage. The coolest thing about the project so far has been hearing about what people are building on top of it. People are using coding agents to quickly integrate with Google Search Console, Google Ads and building their own AI SEO and reporting features. Many were already building their own custom solutions around…
