Interceptor – mock AJAX requests at the browser level

Introducing Interceptor - A browser extension that mocks backend responses and how to use it.

In plain words

Interceptor is a browser extension that intercepts AJAX requests and returns mock data instead of responses from the server. It lets frontend developers define custom responses for specific URLs, allowing them to work independently without waiting for backend APIs to be ready or modified. The tool is designed for developers who need to test with different datasets during the development process.

During development, often times front-end devs have to wait for the back-end devs to offer an API to work on. Even after the API is given, if the front-end team wants a different set of data to work on, they again need to wait for the changes to be made and hosted. We, front-end developers resort to techniques like storing the data in a variable or using mock API's. Sharing an internal tool that accelerated my development work 10-fold, especially with API debugging. Thought fellow developers here might find it useful. As a developer, I often have trouble reproducing errors at the client end. https://intercept.rest lets me debug and monitor API requests and responses. It is similar to the Network tab in Chrome Developer Tools but works for any API: mobile apps, webhooks, frontend etc. After I shared it with a close circle of friends, they found it incredibly useful and even found new use cases, I never imagined. Been a long time lurker here and…
