Internet.nl – test tool for modern internet standards
For the past months we've been working on making our open source tool Internet.nl easier to deploy and develop on. Last week we release version 1.8.0 (https://en.internet.nl/article/release-1.8/) which includes these changes. Tests include: IPv6, DNSSEC, HTTPS/TLS, various security options like XSS, CSP headers, security.txt, RPKI, DMARC, DKIM, SPF, STARTTLS, DANE for web/email, and a browser connection test for IPv6 and DNSSEC. (see: https://en.internet.nl/faqs/) Using Docker & Docker Compose it is now trivial to deploy your own…

(see: https://en.internet.nl/faqs/) Using Docker & Docker Compose it is now trivial to deploy your own instance of our test tool, including all dependencies required to run the tests, web frontend, metrics collection, integration test suite and more. There are two deployment variants, one (the default) for single scan deployments with a web frontend (like on https://en.internet.nl) and one for batch scan where scan's can be submitted in batches via JSON API. To try out the tool online visit: https://en.internet.nl/ To deploy your own instance follow this guide: https://github.com/internetstandards/Internet.nl/blob/main/d... This is a proof of concept utility which allows you to expose local services to the internet at large: https://github.com/skx/tunneller In short it is a simple ngrok alternative, which you can self-host. Because it is a proof of concept it hasn't been tested extensively, but it seems like it will solve my immediate-needs. Of course it needs test, and structure added. But feedback can't hurt :)

Hi! I am sharing this because it may be useful to others. I created a simple Docker image that lets you easily expose a web app running locally on your dev machine to the Internet, via a proxy server. It is a self hosted alternative to something like Ngrok, which is a paid service if you use custom domains. A small server is cheaper than Ngrok (I use Hetzner Cloud and the cheapest server costs me 3€ per month). I use this method in particular to test HTTP verification with Let's Encrypt for a SaaS app running on my Mac. Hope this is useful :) Code:…
