Jitzu – My PowerShell Killer

Born out of my frustration with powershell’s slow startup and confusing syntax I have long wanted to build a shell and scripting language in .NET. I have been working on it for a long time and thanks to Claude, I was able to finally get it over the line. I daily drive it as my shell on Windows, and really happy with it so far. Please try it and let me know where it can improve!

What it does

An interactive shell and a typed scripting language.

Files, commands, variables, and types — all completable with Tab. Pipe OS command output into Jitzu functions. Types flow through the pipeline. Ctrl+R reverse search, arrow-key predictions, and a git-aware prompt. No symlinks. No drive mapping. No editing fstab.     I built GRSH because I wanted a modern, memory-safe shell that feels native to FreeBSD but works seamlessly on macOS.     About a month ago I started a suprisingly-not-that tricky project to build an experimental python repl that I could use instead of bash as a daily shell in windows, mac or linux. It"s more hack-for-exploration than a production ready shell, but here it is! Hope somebody finds it anywhere near as interesting to check out as I found making it. Disclaimer: I know about xonsh and love it (if you haven't heard of it, google it). This project is more pure python and less python and bash interacting - see the readme for more details.
