What it does

Kafma is a desktop IDE for Kafka built around one idea: a topic is a tab. Consume and produce in one workspace, inspect schemas and lag, and replay any message to another topic. Data Clone copies a production topic — its config, schemas, and a slice of real data masked by your rules — to a local cluster, so you can reproduce bugs without modifying the source. Kafma connects directly from your device: no app account, no data proxy, no analytics or telemetry. For macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Simplify how you debug Kafka. Close the gap between Production and your laptop. Intuitive. Simple. Elegant. Console Producer and consumer, one tab. Send manually or on a random loop from below, tail the live stream above — one tab, no context switch. Decode anything. Send it anywhere. Avro and Protobuf decode automatically. Replay, forward, or export any message — one right-click. Kafka Console → Schema Edit schemas like code. Drafts diff against live automatically. Mock a payload from any subject, or Lab-test one to check it fits — then publish. Kafka Schema Registry → Data Clone Replay prod bugs on your laptop. Clone whole topics between clusters, schemas and all. Move a slice of prod…from kafma.app

    Franz – A desktop client for Apache Kafka2024 · github.com · ▲45

This is the source code to Franz, a native desktop client for Apache Kafka I've been working on for the past ~three years or so. Around 2021, I started using Kafka at a startup and I didn't like any of the clients that were available at the time, so I decided to build my own in my spare time[1]. I wanted a solid native experience on the Mac that wasn't web based and didn't require any Docker containers to run. A few months ago, I decided to make the code source-available[2] in part because I like the idea of my users being able to see the code they're running and in part because I want to…

Hi HN, I want to share with you an IntelliJ plugin I have developed and launched. Based on my own needs, I wanted a plugin that monitors my coding practices and gives me stats about them in order for me to improve on them. So, here is Kasama: An IDE plugin that works like a sport fitness tracker, gathering data on: - your coding sessions, i.e. how long are you active in the IDE and for which project - your activity in different modules, and how the activity is split between test code and prod code - your version control (git) interactions: how often you commit, the lifespan your branches,…

  • I built slotstream, a way to run Qwen3.8-Flash-Next 4-bit on a low-memory mac starting from 16GB, a 125B parameter model that would need 100GB+ memory/RAM, thanks to expert-offloading/ssd-streaming. Easy to install/update, and mac-native using MLX and Swift. It ships with auto-mode, which makes a good tradeoff between memory usage and speed. I'll be implementing and porting the MTP module for speculative decoding next Local models really are the future of computing!
