KeyStorm
Turn typing practice into a fast-paced game
What it does
KeyStorm turns typing practice into a fast-paced browser game. Type words, hit targets, survive challenging levels, and try to beat your high score. Improve your speed and accuracy as you play, with no download or account required.
A free typing game where words fall as enemy ships and you shoot them down by typing. It tracks every key separately, so it can show you which letters you keep fumbling. No sign-up, no download.
A fast, free typing game that turns every word into a target. Improve your accuracy, speed and reflexes, one keystroke at a time. Jump in, type fast, and survive the waves. It's easy to learn, hard to master. Each enemy ship carries a word. They descend, and if one reaches your line you lose a life. The first letter picks your target. Keep going and each key sends a shot, until the word runs out and so does the ship. Wrong keys break your combo and reset your multiplier. No two ships on screen ever start with the same letter. Every keystroke gets recorded against the key that produced it. Hits, misses, and how long you took to find it. Keys warm up as you use them, and the ones you keep…from keystorm.in

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
