Kine UI

Standardizing hand-gesture interaction for React.

Kine UI launched on February 25, 2026 with 3 votes, #3,486 of 16,627 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches.

What it does

Kine UI is an open-source alternative to heavy, black-box computer vision libraries. Build spatial interfaces, track real-time gestures, and explore native spatial computing — built openly, for everyone, forever free. What makes it different? > Registry Model: Like shadcn/ui, you don’t install a package. You copy the source code. You own the engine (kine-engine.ts) and the components. > It uses MediaPipe’s vision tasks off-loaded to a WebWorker. It runs at near 60fps even on mid-range laptops.

Open-source hand gesture components for React. Copy-paste spatial computing primitives — air cursor, swipe detection, pinch-to-zoom, and air scroll — powered by MediaPipe WebAssembly. Zero server load.

Components are completely headless. You copy the raw source code into your project. You own the execution. You can tweak the logic, styling, and framer-motion physics directly. Powered by Google's incredibly fast MediaPipe Tasks Vision API. The entire hand-tracking pipeline runs deeply optimized in WebAssembly, completely locally on the client. Raw landmark data from the webcam is inherently jittery. We pass all spatial coordinates directly into Framer Motion spring physics to guarantee buttery smooth UI updates. Components automatically degrade gracefully. If users do not grant camera access, or if they are on mobile devices without ideal viewing angles, the components cleanly fallback to…from kine-ui.vercel.app

I made this because building UIs in a lexical medium like code is super annoying. I have to pre-render what I’m making in my head, and then jump between the browser and IDE to test. I was inspired by the developer console in chrome and safari since I end up editing css there because it’s ironically more convenient. Hope it’s useful!

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • Hello my name is Ben Ward for the past 3 years I have been remastering the financial game Wall Street Raider created by Michael Jenkins originally on DOS in 1986. It has been a rough journey but I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just recently redid the website and thought maybe the full story of how this project came to be would interest you all. Thank you for reading.
