Krillion is a free open-answer knowledge game. Every day brings seven prompts, one short timer for each prompt, and a scoring system that rewards valid ideas beyond the first obvious response. The Daily Dive gives every player the same seven open-answer prompts for the day. A prompt asks for a member of a broad category, such as a city, food, fictional character, scientific idea, animal, invention, or work of art. There are no multiple-choice buttons. You decide on one answer, type it in your own words, and send it before the 25-second window closes. This format tests recall and judgment rather than recognition. I made this game for my children to play, as they are heavily into Wordle, and I thought they'd also like something maths based! Every puzzle is solvable and has at least one solution (usually more). There is a kids mode in the settings, plus a hard mode for extra difficulty.

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
