Learning Library

The Internet Catalog of Learning

Learning Library launched on December 21, 2018 with 4 votes. The site was still online in September 2026, 7 years on.

What it does

Learning Library is a collection of links I've organized into a searchable catalog. There are currently only a handful of subjects (Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, and Piano). However, I have enough links to cover a ton more subjects. My goal is to have over 1000 links by March. I've also added information on whether the site is free or not.

Hello HN, Over the last 12 months, I have been building https://learnawesome.org This idea came from Danny Hillis' 2012 talk at OSCON, which itself was inspired from Neal Stepehenson's _The Diamond Age : A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer_ The dream is to build a tool that matches the right learning material to the right student at the right time. Wikipedia is great, but it doesn't do a good job of leveraging the rich variety of learning resources that exist on the Web. Same applies to GoodReads - which is focused only on books, whereas these days we actually learn from videos,…

I've been working on this for a few days now. The goal is to create a library of the best free educational content available and to build personalised learning paths for each user, using only free resources and at no cost to the user. Let me know what you think.

Hi HN, The discussion pops up regularly about which MOOCs and courses to take so I figured I'd start a curated list of recommendations. It's by no means exhaustive (and it's just the ones I know) and is quite broad. If you had any suggestions, feel free to create a PR or Issue, or even respond to this post and I will add it. I'd love to be able to capture quality somehow, but not sure of the way to go about that just yet. https://github.com/tombasche/professional-development

Hi HN, I’m Pablo, I built this application to learn languages using podcasts: https://www.langturbo.com (No signup required) There are a lot of tools to learn languages, but most of them focus on beginners (understandably so, that’s where the money is) but not many exist that target intermediate or advanced learners. The ones that exist make you find content on your own and then import that into their apps, which can be tricky when you don’t know where to look. LangTurbo has a unique curated database of podcasts by language (some even have dialect labels) that you can browse by…
