link101

The universal I/O board for robots.

What it does

link101 connects any robot's actuators and sensors to any USB-C-powered host. CAN, RS-485, UART, I2C, Feetech, ODrive, Modbus, Dynamixel, you name it. It integrates seamlessly with ROS. Run it as a "hub" where every bus shows up as a native port on your host machine, or flash it to run motion code directly on the microcontroller. One board, either way you build.

An open source multi-protocol bridge for ROS 2 robots

link101 is an open source circuit board that brings every actuator and sensor protocol onto one USB Type-C cable as standard Linux devices, no drivers to write. It lets you prototype with a general-purpose carrier, then design a purpose-built carrier matched to your production robot. If you build robots with ROS 2, you already know the setup: a Pi or Jetson running your control stack. But how do you control the motors? You might have to rely on one USB-UART adapter per protocol. Device names that shuffle after reboot. A different driver situation for every actuator brand. link101 replaces that entire layer. Plug it into any Linux SBC via USB Type-C, and you’re granted simultaneous…from crowdsupply.com

    Bitdog – a completely hackable home automation toolset2018 · ▲30

Hello Hacker News, My co-founder and I have spent the better part of years developing a completely hackable Home Automation toolset that runs on a Raspberry Pi, or any machine running Linux. With just a Raspberry Pi and a $45 Z-Wave dongle (https://www.amazon.com/Aeotec-Z-Stick-Z-Wave-create-gateway/...), you can run a complete home automation system! Our hub will support any Z-Wave or Z-Wave plus device. We are cloud hosted service that doesn't require you to purchase any proprietary hardware. Our hub software runs on NodeJS and is completely open source. We encourage…

  • I made OwnTime to balance between competing priorities in my life. The idea is based on two main influences: the concept of "roles" from "The 5 Choices" (2015), and my repeated failure to effectively implement time blocking due to the necessary flexibility in my role. The app allows you to define time budgets, which are not much more than a few mutually exclusive countdown timers. The UX is essentially that of a chess clock for an arbitrary number of players with configurable time. The whole point of the app is to kick you out of the running role/priority when its time is up.
