What it does

Linum is a minimalist musical notation system paired with an audio synthesizer. It aims to provide the simplest, most compact way to write music in a textual format, making it ideal for quick drafting of melodies or transcription of existing pieces. Through the use of numbers to represent notes, Linum also supports unconventional tunings and microtonal music. | 10 = 10 = [ 8 10 ] 3 =* | < 3 10 3 10 3 10 3 10 | + 1 12 10 12 5 = 5 = | < - 10 5 - 10 5 - 10 5 - 10 5 | 5 =* 6 [ 8 6 5 ] 1 = [ 1 ] | < 1 8 1 8 1 8 1 8 | 3 3 0 1 3 = 3 = | < 3 10 3 10 3 10 3 10 Above is a brief Linum transcription of “Taniec Eleny” from Michał Lorenc, along with the generated sound file.     If you already know what bytebeat is, you don't need an explanation. If not, check my project :) Here is how it looks: SELECT mono(output( arraySum(x -> 1 / 6 * running_envelope(30 * (1 + x / 6), time, 0.05 * x, 0.005, lfo(0, 0.25, sine_wave, time / 8), 0.1) * sine_wave(time * 80 * exp2(x / 3)), range(12)))) FROM table; To check how it sounds, find the examples in the repository https://github.com/ClickHouse/NoiSQL

    I designed a relative piano-roll-based music notation. I used 12 colored arranged in a specific way to make visible the main effects and oppositions of Western tonal harmony. The tonic is always white, so a manual annotation/interpretation is required for each MIDI file. All chords are flags of three to four colors. Minor mode is darker, major mode is lighter. Colors are arranged in thirds. I sorted the pieces from simple complex harmony. I also wrote a bit of text to explain what you may see. There's also a corpus of structures: hyperlinks of tags that allow you to find similar…

    This is part of my journey on pybind11. I wrote a tiny FM Synthesis library in C++ and a Python wrapper for that using pybind11. There is a command-line piano app in the examples directory if you want to play with it. Here is the link: https://github.com/charstorm/koelsynth/tree/main/examples/si... My next target is to attach this to some kind of physics simulation - like a bunch of balls moving around in a box with some internal walls. When the ball hits certain trigger points, it produces the sound.

  • Hello my name is Ben Ward for the past 3 years I have been remastering the financial game Wall Street Raider created by Michael Jenkins originally on DOS in 1986. It has been a rough journey but I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just recently redid the website and thought maybe the full story of how this project came to be would interest you all. Thank you for reading.
