In plain words
This project demonstrates using Nginx and Consul-Template to dynamically load-balance traffic to Docker containers. It is intended for infrastructure teams managing containerized applications who need to automatically route web traffic based on service discovery data. The solution replaces an earlier consul-haproxy approach, allowing Nginx load balancers to reconfigure in real-time as Docker containers start and stop within infrastructure environments.

We are investing a lot of research and development time into leveraging Docker in the next generation of our internal infrastructure. One of the next components we need to build out to full maturity is being able to dynamically route web traffic from our Nginx load balancers to internal Docker containers in a performant way. We are very passionate fans of the work of HashiCorp at Belly, and they recently published a new project named Consul Template . We were using an earlier HashiCorp tool named consul–haproxy to reconfigure our Nginx load–balancers based on Consul data. Consul Template is a slightly more generalized tool that was fairly smooth to adopt. Let me walk you through…from tech.bellycard.com

Docker rollout – Zero Downtime Deployment for Docker-compose2023 · github.com · ▲187docker-compose is great for single node docker deployments, but it doesn't have a feature that would allow zero downtime deployments. It's not possible to deploy often if your app goes down every time, and using Kubernetes/Nomad/Swarm on a single node is an overkill. I created this Docker plugin to be a drop-in replacement for the restart command in usual docker-compose deployment scripts. It performs a simple rolling deployment of a single service.

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
