In plain words
hoody is a location-based chat app that recreates the open, community-driven feel of classic internet forums like IRC and newsgroups, but with a local twist. Users can join real-time conversations in dynamic geographic areas, from neighborhoods to festivals, without creating an account. The app automatically generates usernames and adapts chat areas based on activity levels, letting people connect with others nearby or globally. It's designed for anyone seeking spontaneous local interaction and diverse perspectives outside traditional social networks.

From the sources
We want to bring back the curious spirit of the Internet; revive the feeling IRC, message boards, and newsgroups gave you. Break out of a restrictive social network bubble. Open yourself to a diversity of opinions, ideas, and people. Chat areas adapt based on activity, so you’ll always be in the conversation, whether it’s around the world or around the corner. Chat at the game, a festival, ask for local advice while traveling or just see what’s happening in your neighborhood. No sign-up, no accounts. Just open the app and chat instantly. You’ll get an automagically generated name like “ sparkle motion ✨ ”, or use your own. Choose an area below to see nearby activity around you in real-time!…from hoody.im

Hey HN, I've been a long time HN reader and here is my first contribution. Hoodsup.me is a chat-based matchmaking app built on top of your Facebook social graph. It matchmakes you with people who are geographically close to you and with whom you share common points. You can optionally activate your webcam to talk face-to-face with your partner. Think of it as a Sonar meets a genital-free Chatroulette. I would love to get some feedback. It's only optimized for WebKit for now. No signup is required so just stop by and say hi! :) Clickable link: <a…
