Lockbook, a secure and open note taking platform [video]
Hey HN, Along with a handful of friends, I've been working on a note taking platform for the last couple years. We created a 2 minute pitch of our platform, if you'd prefer to read, maybe you'd want to checkout our README: https://github.com/lockbook/lockbook. If you don't want to do either of those things I'll try to summarize some of our core values: - everything end to end encrypted - open formats: markdown and svg - strong offline support - everything open source - native apps where possible - rust where possible Some other stuff we're proud of: - we have a CLI which…
What it does
In the maker’s words, at launch
Hey HN, Along with a handful of friends, I've been working on a note taking platform for the last couple years. We created a 2 minute pitch of our platform, if you'd prefer to read, maybe you'd want to checkout our README: https://github.com/lockbook/lockbook. If you don't want to do either of those things I'll try to summarize some of our core values: - everything end to end encrypted - open formats: markdown and svg - strong offline support - everything open source - native apps where possible - rust where possible Some other stuff we're proud of: - we have a CLI which lets people edit using their favorite text editor: https://blog.lockbook.net/cp/137878891 we're also experimenting with a mounted file system where a CLI falls short (checkout `lockbook fs`). - we built a markdown editor in egui that fit our needs and embedded it within several of our (native non-egui) clients: https://blog.lockbook.net/cp/136569994 At the moment we have 3 goals: - grow the community of early adopters who like what we're doing and are interested in giving us continuous feedback as they try to adopt the app. - find like minded engineers who are looking for open source projects to contribute to. - increase the stability of the platform Thanks for your attention ♥.

- LALurnby, a tool for better learning, is now open source2022 · github.com · ▲162
I've been working on Lurnby for 2 years. It's kind of like a mix of pocket + kindle + anki. It lets you => add add epubs, pdfs, and web articles to the app => highlight and add comments => tag and organize highlights => review them with a spaced repetition system Today I made the decision to open source the project. I'm passionate about helping other people learn to learn better and hope that this will allow a lot more innovation in the tool and the space. I'm very new to open source and development in general really, but looking forward to receiving the guidance of the community.

I've implemented a small web app — (a hassle-free hosting for markdown pages) entirely in Clojure and here is what I think: http://notehub.org/2012/6/16/how-notehub-is-built The app itself: http://notehub.org GitHub: http://github.com/chmllr/NoteHub
- WBWe built an end-to-end encrypted alternative to Notion2023 · snote.app · ▲7
Hello HN, Over the last year we've been building snote.app, a Privacy focused, End-to-End Encrypted alternative to Notion. You can write, plan, collaborate and get organized - it allows you to take notes, store files, add tasks, manage projects & more. Whether you're working solo or in a team. We are hoping to use this post as an opportunity to collect feedback from fellow hackers. If there's anything we can do better, please let us know
