LockinRa is a local-first AI productivity app for Windows, powered by a local LLM (via Ollama). You said you'd build the onboarding flow. Back to it? A real day in LockinRa, in sixty seconds: brain-dump a plan, lock in, drift once, get caught, end with the day measured. Lock-in2025 · lock-in.ai · ▲132Hey HN, you may have seen me post about Lock In recently—it's a minimalist task management HUD that sits silently on your desktop. It gained some traction for its Mac version, and as of today, it's finally available for Windows. The idea remains the same: productivity apps are often click-heavy databases that feel like administrative work. Lock In is designed as an "execution engine"—a small, transparent window that forces you to focus on doing. It works entirely via slash commands. E.g., /d 100 pushups, /lockin 1h. What's new in this release: Windows Support: Fully native builds…

LocalAug 2026 · basecompute.co · ▲107Super excited to launch our new app Local today. What we’ve learned at Base Compute over the last months is that running AI directly on your laptop or workstation gives you maximum privacy and it’s free, but it’s also a massive headache to configure. So we’ve decided what matters is making the experience completely frictionless for users. Local analyses the hardware of your laptop, optimises the AI for it, and recommends the best models for your specific device. It let’s you do what you’re doing with cloud AI already, just for free and on your own machine: Chatting with PDF’s, Recording and…

- ISI struggle to focus working from home so I built a solution2023 · ▲31
Hey HN friends, I keep getting distracted working from home and always end up watching youtube, browsing blogs like HN or just mindlessly scrolling then I feel like crap because I didn’t do enough. I went through dozens of productivity tools but they’re quite overwhelming to use and none of them actually helped me focus. So I built http://complish.ai, a web-based sidebar that helps me focus on one task at a time. I launched it last month and have over 3,000 users now and I’ll be keeping it free. Would love for you all to try and give some feedback!

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
