Loft gives thumb-keys and split-layout on a standard laptop or keyboard
I've put up a homepage for my keyboard layout, LOFT, and thought I'd share in case anyone found it interesting... LOFT is free on macOS and remaps your laptop and standard keyboard into the thumb-keyed, split-layout, ergonomic dream you've been seeking! It positions your hands up and out in a creative way to get you all the goodies you thought you'd need some garage-built, geek-contraption for. All on a standard ANSI keyboard. Maybe of interest is that the site's keyboard graphics are all generated HTML+CSS via Hugo partials.

What it does
LOFT remaps your laptop and standard keyboard into the thumb-keyed, split-layout, ergonomic dream you've been seeking! It positions your hands up and out in a creative way to get you all the goodies you thought you'd need some garage-built, geek-contraption for. All on a standard ANSI keyboard. Not just for the nerds. Basics like exclamations and parentheses shouldn't require acrobatics to hit. Never feel like a goof stretching two hands up to a number row again. An alternative "T-style" config will be available in the future. Writing a novel or a 50-page grant proposal? LOFT is great for prose and standard computer use. The standard modifiers are in a single row under one thumb. Not great…from loftkeyboard.com

I had an issue a few years ago - every ergonomic keyboard I tried had the switches too close to each other and my fingers were cramped in that small space. Then I decided to create a keyboard which is suitable for larger hands and eliminates most of the wrist movement. 34 keys was the most optimized version for achieving as little wrist movement as possible. You can try the fitment for your palm IRL with the printable template on the website.

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
