Loodfun

I originally built Loodfun to make playable wedding/birthday invitations, little escape room style games you send to guests instead of a boring card. It didnt work, but somewhere along the way i pivoted towards an interesting problem which is learning/training. Every company or school has onboarding pdfs or slides and also learning courses/material, and people skim once and forget (i did that many times). so i shifted focus to that task, you paste in a course link, a pdf file, or even a wikip page, and it generates an actual playable 3D game with different maps/camera…

What it does

Loodfun turns any event, launch, or course into an explorable 3D world. You get a custom environment with objects, characters, and mini-games in minutes, zero code. Send invites that play like escape games, onboard new hires, run product launches, or turn a lesson into a game people finish. Pick a theme, customize it, share a link freely.

    I made a web game called Almost Pong2022 · lessmilk.com · ▲1,135

Hi HN! I made many small web games in the past with Unity or Phaser. But this time I wanted to make something completely on my own. So I coded a basic game framework in plain JavaScript, and used it to make Almost Pong. This was a really fun project that taught me a lot about JavaScript, and I plan to make more minimalist games with this framework. Interesting fact: Almost Pong doesn't load any assets, all sprites and sounds are generated with code. Happy to answer questions, and please let me know if you have any feedback on the game. Thanks!

  • A Marble Madness-inspired WebGL game we built for Netlify2024 · 5-million-devs.netlify.com · ▲616

Hello HN! We’re a small creative studio specializing in real-time 3D experiences. Netlify approached us to design and build an interactive experience to celebrate reaching 5 million developers. Inspired by the classic game Marble Madness, we created a gamified experience where users control a ball through playful, interactive levels. The goal was to blend marketing content with the look and feel of a game to engage users. The app is built with Three.js [1], using our custom render pipeline and shaders, and uses Rapier for physics simulation [2]. The 2D content is overlaid on the WebGL view…

Modd.io is a collaborative game editor that runs in browser. It's kind of like Figma for game dev. We made this engine low-code and multiplayer-first, so developeres can quickly prototype casual multiplayer games. I hope some of you guys will find this useful. Would love to hear feedback also. made a html5 game, polished it many many times2011 · hotbazooka.com · ▲211

hi all, I've always wanted to make my own game, but couldn't afford a thousand-dollar adobe (flash+photoshop) license. I'm not a talented programmer, have no degree in CS. But I understand some elements of design. So I got me a copy of ImpactJS, and after about 5 months of steep learning curve (at least for me), I managed to come up with a game. I also integrated it with a highscore and badge system, similar to what you get at Kongregate. You need to login with Google/OpenID to earn badges/scores. link is: http://www.hotbazooka.com/privatejoe hope to hear some feedback/questions from you guys!

    ClojureScript pixel game engine with Blender live-reloading2019 · mccormick.cx · ▲285

Hi HN! 2d spritesheets for game development are often distributed as a PNG image, sometimes with a separate JSON or XML metadata document describing the layout, including any animation sequences within the sheet. Sometimes there is no metadata document and you have to work it out and manually write custom code to chop up the spritesheet and reference the sprites you want. I think it would be good if it became standard practice to distribute spritesheet PNGs with the metadata inline inside a PNG "chunk" so the whole thing is self-contained. That way artists can just distribute one file, and…

  • I learned Pixel Art to build a game for my wedding's "Save the Date"2024 · savethedate.deboraejoao.com · ▲8

I learned Pixel Art design on Coursera and built a pixel art game for my wedding's save the date using React. The game is on "endless runner" style and our guests have to jump over the typical animals of the island of Florianopolis (where the wedding took place) and gather the two rings in order to find out the wedding date. Play it and try to "Save the Date".

  • Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!
