Local semantic search for Linux documents
Lumina launched on April 15, 2025 with 9 votes, #3,599 of 7,818 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.
What it does
Linux application that performs semantic document searches on your local machine. It finds files based on meaning rather than exact keyword matches, operates without internet connection, and prioritizes user privacy. Available as an AppImage.
Lumina uses advanced AI to semantically search through all your documents locally - regardless of format. Privacy-focused, no telemetry, no BS.
Import your documents and use AI to find exactly what you need, with your data staying private on your device. # Make the AppImage executable chmod +x ./Lumina-1.0.0.AppImage # Run Lumina ./Lumina-1.0.0.AppImage FAQ Is my data sent to the cloud? No. Lumina processes all your documents locally on your machine. Your data never leaves your computer. The initial embedding process typically takes a couple of minutes depending on the number and size of your documents. Lumina currently supports the following formats: Markdown (MD), Word Documents (DOCX), PDF, OpenDocument Text (ODT), plain text (TXT), and HTML. Lumina is a closed-source project. Semantic Video Search2022 · ramanlabs.in · ▲62Hi HN, I am Anubhav from Ramanlabs. We have been working on a native gui application to allow users to search any video data( mp4, mkv) or video streams (http/rtsp) using computer vision. Application is supposed to work like a video player which displays decoded frames and recognizes objects concurrently, making it an interactive experience. It works in super real-time and only expects a quad-core CPU with AVX2 instructions at minimum. Application is free to download (without any signup/account). We are only supporting WINDOWS for now [0]. Even though this is a binary application,…

Hi everyone, I built PyXL — a hardware processor that executes a custom assembly generated from Python programs, without using a traditional interpreter or virtual machine. It compiles Python -> CPython Bytecode -> Instruction set designed for direct hardware execution. I’m sharing an early benchmark: a GPIO test where PyXL achieves a 480ns round-trip toggle — compared to 14-25 micro seconds on a MicroPython Pyboard - even though PyXL runs at a lower clock (100MHz vs. 168MHz). The design is stack-based, fully pipelined, and preserves Python's dynamic typing without static type restrictions.…
