MacBar — macOS CPU Monitor launched on June 30, 2026 with 2 votes.
What it does
MacB is a free, native CPU monitor built for Apple Silicon Macs. See live CPU usage, temperature, clock speed, and a full per-core breakdown — right from your menu bar, with a 60-second history graph. Installs with one hardened terminal command: builds and compiles locally on your machine, checksum-verified, no prebuilt binaries shipped, no telemetry. macOS 12+, Apple Silicon only.
MacBar — free open-source macOS menu bar system monitor (v1.5.8). Live CPU, temperature, MacBook battery %, GPU, RAM, network. Free iStat/Stats alternative. No account, no telemetry. Apple Silicon.
Don't open index.html directly — downloads and fonts won't work. Close this tab, then double-click OPEN-WEBSITE.command in the unzipped folder. Real-time CPU, temperature, memory, battery, and more — right in your Mac menu bar. Current: v1.5.8 · requires macOS 14+ (Sonoma or later). Free · no account · no telemetry. M1 / M2 / M3 / M4 → Apple Silicon . Older Intel Macs → Intel (compiles on your Mac · last updates through v1.2.5-Beta). Builds are ad-hoc signed (not Apple-notarized yet). If macOS blocks the app: right-click MacBar.app → Open → Open . Prefer the App ZIP or Terminal install (no Xcode) from this site. Paste in Terminal. Installs to ~/Applications and clears the quarantine flag,…from chopstickshq.com

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
