Make This Button More Expensive

A button that gets $1 more expensive after every purchase

What it does

The button starts cheap and gets $1 more expensive every time someone buys it. Each buyer gets a permanent public receipt with their name and message. It’s part internet experiment, part escalating ad space: if the site gets attention, early receipts become cheap permanent placements in the history.

A ridiculous public button that gets $1 more expensive every time someone buys it. Leave a message, get a receipt, make the number go up.

Pay the posted price. Get a permanent receipt. Make the next person pay exactly $1 more . Every row is a finalized purchase. Names, amounts, messages, timestamps—no invented activity. It started at $1. Every finalized receipt adds exactly one dollar. Charged in USD. Your card issuer may convert the amount or apply its own fees. The image carries the amount, the culprit, and the new price. The link reconstructs this exact receipt. Submitting this form does not prove ownership. Corrections and privacy requests may require verification. Do not submit card numbers, payment credentials, passwords, or other sensitive information. Requests are delivered to The Button Office through Formspree.…from makethisbuttonmoreexpensive.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
