Marklet
The markdown workspace for AI-powered workflows
What it does
AI tools generate markdown constantly — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor. No native place to read it beautifully on Mac. Finder shows raw text. Opening a coding editor just to read a file is a workaround, not a solution. Marklet is a local-first markdown workspace. Open any folder, browse your files, read them rendered beautifully. Themes, syntax highlighting, TOC, source editing. No database, no cloud, no account. Your files stay yours.

Hey HN, In this age of agentic coding I've found myself spending a lot of time reviewing markdown files. Whether it's plans or documentation that I've asked my agent to generate for me, it seems that I spend more time reading markdown than code. I've tried a few different solutions to make it easier to read such as Obsidian however I've found their Vault system to be quite limiting for this use case and I've found TUI solutions to not quite be as friendly to read as I've wanted so I made Marky. Marky is a lightweight desktop application that makes it incredibly easy to read and track your…

I read Markdown all day, mostly Claude .md, and other AI outputs. Every app I have tried felt janky or too much work to just read an md file. I just wanted to open a .md file and read it the way Preview opens a PDF. So I built Kite, a Markdown reader for Mac. It has QuickLook just like Preview and I have baked in features that help people reading lot's of AI markdowns. It one-time purchase, no subscription. I put it on TestFlight so you can try it before paying anything. I would really like this crowd to try to break it. Tell me which files render wrong, what feels off, what is missing.…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…
