Mathpad – Physical keypad for typing math symbols
Here's something different than your usual fare: A physical keypad that lets you directly type math! Ever tried typing mathematical equations in your code IDE, email, or on Slack? You might know it can be tricky. Mathpad solves this with dedicated keys for Greek letters, calculus symbols, and more. Press the ∫ key and get ∫, in any application that accepts text. It uses Unicode composition, so it works everywhere: Browsers, chat apps, code editors, Word, you name it. Basically, anywhere you can type text, Mathpad lets you type mathematics. In plain words
Mathpad is a physical keypad designed to simplify typing mathematical equations and symbols. It features dedicated keys for Greek letters, calculus symbols, and other mathematical notation, allowing users to insert characters like ∫ directly into any text-accepting application including code editors, email, chat apps, and word processors. The keypad uses Unicode composition to work across browsers, IDEs, and productivity software without requiring special configuration.

I built Mathpad after getting frustrated with the friction of typing equations in e.g. Word, and what a pain in the ass it was to find the specific symbols I needed. I assumed that a product like Mathpad already existed, but that was not true and I had to build it myself. It turned out to be pretty useful! Three years of solo development later, I'm launching on Crowd Supply. One of the trickiest parts of this project was finding someone who could manufacture custom keycaps with mathematical symbols. Shoutout to Loic at 3dkeycap.com for making it possible! Hi HN It also supports percentages, dates and variables. I've been working on this alone for a few years now, so would love to get some feedback.

Hi HN, I’m the creator of Math2Tex. I was a PhD student, I spend a huge amount of my time working with LaTeX, especially when dealing with lecture notes, academic papers, and homework. I built *Math2Tex*, a lightweight tool that converts handwritten or printed academic content — especially math formulas — into LaTeX or text The Problem: I've always found it incredibly tedious to manually type out mathematical formulas, especially complex, multi-line equations from my handwritten notes or from a textbook. It's slow, boring, and I always make syntax errors. I tried some existing tools, but…

I built the world's most impractical 1000-pixel display and anyone in the world can draw on it. It draws a single pixel at a time and takes 30-60 minutes to complete a single image. Anyone can participate in the project by voting for the next image to be drawn, and submitting images. https://kilopx.com/

Kitten TTS is an open-source series of tiny and expressive text-to-speech models for on-device applications. We are excited to launch a preview of our smallest model, which is less than 25 MB. This model has 15M parameters. This release supports English text-to-speech applications in eight voices: four male and four female. The model is quantized to int8 + fp16, and it uses onnx for runtime. The model is designed to run literally anywhere eg. raspberry pi, low-end smartphones, wearables, browsers etc. No GPU required! We're releasing this to give early users a sense of the latency and voices…

I was wondering how I can arrange objects along a spherical helix path, and read some articles on it. I ended up learning about parametric equations again, and make this visualization to document what I learned: https://visualrambling.space/moving-objects-in-3d/ feel free to visit and let me know what you think!

For HTML Day 2025 [1], I made a web service that displays the current sky at your approximate location as a CSS gradient. Colours are simulated on-demand using atmospheric absorption and scattering coefficients. Updates every minute, without the use of client-side JavaScript.
