MCL
Lightweight CLI tool for local & global commands
MCL launched on October 20, 2025 with 6 votes. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.
What it does
I built mcl to simplify my daily terminal workflow. It lets you create custom shortcuts for your most-used commands locally or globally using a simple JSON config. It’s still early, but I plan to add auto-completion, plugin support, and command chaining soon.
My Command Line: A personal generic customizable CLI tool - stramanu/mcl-tool
Turn JSON recipes into powerful automation scripts . Write once, run everywhere. A lightweight, batteries-included CLI that makes command automation effortless. Compose reusable scripts with variables, nested flows, and safe execution—all stored in simple JSON. python3 -m venv ~ /.venvs/mcl source ~ /.venvs/mcl/bin/activate python -m pip install --upgrade pip Install the CLI: pip install mcl-tool Quick Start Initialize a project config mcl init Edit mcl.json (local overrides global ~/.mcl/global-mcl.json ): { "vars" : { "project" : " mcl " , "version" : " 0.1.0 " }, "scripts" : { "example" : { "hello" : " echo Hello, $1! Ell – A command-line interface for LLMs written in Bash2024 · github.com · ▲214Hi HN! I've created a CLI tool called "ell" that allows you to interact with LLMs directly from your terminal. Designed with the Unix philosophy in mind, ell is simple, modular, and extensible. You can easily pipe input and output to integrate with other tools. Its templates and hook-based plugins enable you to customize and extend its functionality to suit any needs. Check out the README for usage instructions and examples. I developed this tool because existing solutions often felt too heavy, with many dependencies, or they weren't friendly to piping and customization. I, on the contrary,…

Mcp2cli – One CLI for every API, 96-99% fewer tokens than native MCPMar 2026 · github.com · ▲146Every MCP server injects its full tool schemas into context on every turn — 30 tools costs ~3,600 tokens/turn whether the model uses them or not. Over 25 turns with 120 tools, that's 362,000 tokens just for schemas. mcp2cli turns any MCP server or OpenAPI spec into a CLI at runtime. The LLM discovers tools on demand: mcp2cli --mcp https://mcp.example.com/sse --list # ~16 tokens/tool mcp2cli --mcp https://mcp.example.com/sse create-task --help # ~120 tokens, once mcp2cli --mcp https://mcp.example.com/sse create-task --title "Fix bug" No…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

I went down the rabbit hole on a side project and ended up building this: Strange Attractors(https://blog.shashanktomar.com/posts/strange-attractors). It’s built with three.js. Working on it reminded me of the little "maths for fun" exercises I used to do while learning programming in early days. Just trying things out, getting fascinated and geeky, and being surprised by the results. I spent way too much time on this, but it was extreme fun. My favorite part: someone pointed me to the Simone Attractor on Threads. It is a 2D attractor and I asked GPT to extrapolate it to…

Autism Simulator▲779Hey all, I built this. It’s not trying to capture every autistic experience (that’d be impossible). It’s based on my own lived experience as well as that of friends on the spectrum. I'm trying to give people a feel for what masking, decision fatigue, and burnout can look like day-to-day. That’s hard to explain in words, but easier to show through choices and stats. I'm not trying to "define autism". I’ve gotten good feedback here about resilience, meds, and difficulty tuning. I’ll keep tweaking it. If even a few people walk away thinking, "ah, maybe that’s why my coworker struggles in those…
