Mdown
Distraction free markdown notes with AI.
What it does
Mdown is a focused, native-feeling Markdown editor for macOS. It pairs Monaco's fast editor with a simple, optional preview and AI tools so writing stays at the centre of the app.

Mdown is a focused, native-feeling Markdown editor for macOS. It pairs Monaco's fast editor with a simple, optional preview so writing stays at the centre of the app. Download the current macOS installers from the Mdown Releases page : choose Apple Silicon for M-series Macs or Intel for older Intel-based Macs. If you download Mdown from GitHub Releases, macOS may show a warning that the app is from an unverified developer (or that Apple could not check it for malicious software). This happens because Gatekeeper applies extra checks to apps downloaded from the internet, and apps distributed outside the Mac App Store can trigger this warning when they are not notarized in a way macOS expects.…from github.com

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
