microide, a 100% vibecoded IDE that LLM agents can drive
I want to be very upfront: this IDE's code is 100% generated by LLMs supervised by me, I am not hiding this fact. This submission was written by a human. microide's focus is performance and privacy, I was very tired of having AI integrated on every tool (ironic, I know, having vibecoded this one), and the decline in software performance. After trying quite a few IDEs none were what I wanted so I started microide. microide also does not have any kind of telemetry nor networking capabilities by design, no accounts, no update checks, none. Since I only use CLI-based LLM tools, microide has a…
What it does
In the maker’s words, at launch
I want to be very upfront: this IDE's code is 100% generated by LLMs supervised by me, I am not hiding this fact. This submission was written by a human. microide's focus is performance and privacy, I was very tired of having AI integrated on every tool (ironic, I know, having vibecoded this one), and the decline in software performance. After trying quite a few IDEs none were what I wanted so I started microide. microide also does not have any kind of telemetry nor networking capabilities by design, no accounts, no update checks, none. Since I only use CLI-based LLM tools, microide has a good git diff/merge workflow (for me to check what the agents did) and a way for the LLMs to interact with it, these are a few of the prompts I use: * 'Check this repo, I am not familiar with it, open in microide the most relevant files to study, reorder the tabs so I can study them in order' * 'Pull main and merge, open any conflicts in microide for me to review' * 'This app is crashing, find where it breaks and set a breakpoint in microide just before the crash and give me the control' I am using it as my daily driver for a couple of weeks and enjoying it, I think it is mature enough to show. I do not plan to monetize it at any point. At the moment microide is Linux only, I would love to bring microide to macOS as well, but since I do not have access to a Mac I could not test it properly.

Hi HN! I've never posted anything on here before, but this project was too fun to pass up. I've been learning a lot about agents lately, and wanted to see if I could replicate some of the results of Windsurf and Cursor. Generally I love these tools, but when you're stuck behind an "enterprise" firewall, they don't work as well. This sad state of affairs motivated me to understand SWE agents more. Does it work? Yes. Is it as good as Cursor and Windsurf? Not quite, but it's pretty darn close, depending on the model you use. I'm lacking a few features like semantic indexing, MCP support, but…

Hey HN! When I started looking into LLMs and agents for software development and introducing them at work, I quickly realised that a person new to the topic faces a real barrage: - all the hype (AGI, engineers getting replaced by AI etc.) - conflicting opinions in virtually every discussion—for every person saying they’ve 10x-ed their productivity, there is a comment decrying LLMs as an utter failure - a lot of jargon (MoE, MCP, RAG, distillation, quantisation etc. etc.) - a profusion of models, IDEs/IDE extensions, CLI agents, other tools etc. Sorting through all of this can be quite…

I put together a directory of agentic coding tools & things like autonomous app builders, CLI agents, VSCode copilots, and multi-agent dev platforms. Most of these tools can plan, scaffold, and write code with minimal input. Some are polished, some experimental. I wanted a way to compare them all in one place. You can filter by autonomy level, LLMs used, pricing, open source, etc. It’s a compact UI—works on mobile, has dark mode, and no signups or fluff. Would love feedback: Are there tools I’ve missed? Anything that should be organized differently? Info you wish was included? Cheers.

After adding "Human" as a LLM provider to OpenCode a few months ago as a joke, it turns-out that acting as a LLM is quite painful. But it was surprisingly useful for understanding real agent harnesses dev. So I thought I wouldn't leave anyone out! I made a small oss game - You Are An Agent - youareanagent.app - to share in the (useful?) frustration It's a bit ridiculous. To tell you about some entirely necessary features, we've got: - A full WASM arch-linux vm that runs in your browser for the agent coding level - A bad desktop simulation with a beautiful excel simulation for our computer…

Hey HN! I wanted to practice "vibe coding" and see how far and fast I can go by only prompting, without actual coding. I decided to make a simple CLI app that scrapes web docs into a single md file (I was annoyed that LLM keeps writing Tailwind 3 code for a Tailwind 4 project). In just a couple of hours, the CLI app was ready! Then iterated on arguments for another couple of hours. Result: https://github.com/vladstudio/web2llm Then I decided to go further and "productize" the CLI by making a web app for it. Another half-day, and the web app is ready!…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

I might be the only SRE on Earth with his own bowling center. It's a more in-depth gig than you'd think. My family and I bought an abandoned 8-lane bowling center in the rural mid-west. In our small town there weren't many recreation options for families. You've heard of a food desert? This is an R&R desert. It had been abandoned for a good reason. The roof leaks, the electrical system was constantly surging, and my 70-year-old bowling equipment (still) doesn't work perfectly. The system that keeps your score is particularly interesting to me. It's the thing you watch during your game, but…

Over the past few months, our team has been building more and more slidedecks using web frontend technologies with coding harnesses like Claude Code, but a common complaint is to make even small edits we need to edit the code either manually or via the harness. To avoid this loop, I ended up creating Bento, a single HTML file with everything you need in a slide tool including animations and shared editing. There's no install or cloud login, everything works offline. The default deck is around 560 KB and it doesn't need to fetch anything once you got it. Open it in a browser and then you can…

A few days ago I found myself trying out GLM 5.2 and was really positively impressed. The capabilities and security I was getting from this LLM are similar to those I've gotten from models like Claude or GPT, and this really surprised me. But then I thought, "I wonder how it would work on a normal computer like mine," and above all, "I wonder if it would work without going into OOM on a computer like mine." So I started working with the help of agents to test this possibility. I started converting the model to int4, understanding MTP usage, and if possible implementing DSA for long context.…
