Today, we’re launching our first product on Crowd Supply: a fast, open-hardware dev kit for driving e-ink displays. It supports 75Hz refresh, both color and monochrome panels, and more. This all started with a post on Hacker News about building an e-ink laptop. That post led to conversations with makers, minimalists, and others exploring how e-ink could fit into daily life, or help with personal health challenges. From those conversations came a community, which grew into a project, became a company, and brought us to today’s launch. We bootstrapped from the beginning, pushing through COVID shutdowns, chip shortages, shipping delays, and adapting to every new challenge along the way. We haven’t built the e-ink laptop yet, but we’ve built a foundation for creating high-performance e-ink devices. We’re sharing our small contribution today in hopes that it helps make e-ink more open and accessible. Thanks for being part of the journey.
